The equity benchmark indexes started on a negative note on Tuesday’s trading session. The Nifty50 barometer of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) started at 10,451.90.
And the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index opened at 34,846.19.
After trading for just a few minutes, the BSE 30 traded at 34,742.30, with a loss of 70.69 points or 0.20% and the wider Nifty50 was down 38.80 points or 0.37% to trade at 10,443.40.
So far at its intraday low to 34,672.20, the 30-share Sensex fell 140.79 points and the 50-scrip Nifty 41.45 points to 10,440.55.
Globally, the MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan plunged 1.4% to one and a half week low.
Meanwhile, the Indian rupee recovered 29 paise to 72.60 against the US dollar on Tuesday’s early trade amid easing global crude oil prices.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed lower to 345 points at 34,812 on Monday and the NSE Nifty50 settled at 10,482, with a loss of 103 points.
