Recruitment process in progress for about 1200 posts under NHM
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu today handed over appointment letters to 16 Medical Officers (Specialists) for strengthening the Punjab Health Infrastructure. Disclosing this here today Mr. Sidhu said that under ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojana’ every effort was being made to provide job opportunities to the youth of Punjab under which the Health Department, Punjab has recruited for more than 11200 posts from the year 2017 to 2021. , Director Health Services has appointed 1041 Medical Officers (General), 601 Medical Officers (Specialists), 34 Medical Officers (Dental), 324 Medical Laboratory Technicians, 1336 Multipurpose Health Workers, 418 Pharmacists, 1313 Staff Nurses, 161 Radiologists, 161 Radiologists, Recruited 55 Operation Theater Assistants and 60 Steno Typists.

He said that more recruitments would be made in DHS soon while interviews of 242 specialist doctors were in progress to address the shortage of specialists in the government. Giving information about the recruitment done in the National Health Mission, he said that 5212 medical and para medical recruitments were done during the last 4 years. However, the process of filling up about 1200 more posts is underway, out of which the department has also issued advertisements for recruitment of 287 more specialist doctors for walk-in interviews.
Giving more details about this recruitment drive, the Health Minister said that the state government has expedited the recruitment drive to strengthen the health infrastructure of Punjab.

Mr. Sidhu congratulated the new recruits in the health department and encouraged them to discharge their responsibilities in various health institutions of the state with sincerity and diligence.
