Chandigarh: Punjab Education Minister Mr. Om Prakash Soni today said that Punjab Government is consistently working in the direction of strengthening the education system in the border areas of the state and congenial results are coming out.

Mr. Soni said that during the tenure of previous government, the future of the children of the border areas was completely neglected and the number of teachers in the border areas was drastically reduced, due to which the results had been gone down speedily. He said that after coming into power, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has set a goal to impart quality education to the students of all the areas of the state equally as well as to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure so that the students of every field could get the education and our younger generation will be able to survive in this competitive world.

Education Minister said that the department has promoted 2282 primary teachers to master cadre, out of which mostly have been posted in border areas. In these areas, 85 percent posts of Punjabi subject, 82 percent of Mathematics and 74 percent posts of Science Subject have been filled. He said that the government is working hard to provide 100 percent teachers in all the schools of the state.

Mr. Soni said that the process of setting up a separate cadre of teachers for border area is on anvil.
