Chandigarh – A pilot project drug screening drive for testing inmates for illegal drug use began at District Jail Roopnagar by screening of more than 950 inmates on Sunday. The drive was launched on the directions of Harjot Bains, Minister for Jails. It was first of its kind in the country where en entire jail population was screened on the same day. The statewide program is primarily focused on making prisons free from illegal drugs and providing an option to inmates to undergo de-addiction and get rehabilitated.
