The domestic stock markets started on a red note on Friday amid weak global cues. The BSE benchmark Sensex opened at 35,960.19.
While the National Stock Exchange index Nifty50 started at 10,784.50.
At 10:21 am, the S&P BSE Sensex traded at 35983.83, with a loss of 54.19 points or 0.15%, and the broader Nifty50 was at 18.70 points or 0.17% lower to 10810.25.
Out of 50 Nifty stocks, thirty traded with red.
In the global market, Japan’s Nikkei fell 2.1% while the MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan dropped 1.4%.
At the interbank forex market, the Indian rupee weakened by 14 paise to 71.82 per the US dollar in early trade on Friday.
While the home currency gained by 33 paise to 71.68 against the greenback on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the 30-share Sensex ended 150.57 points or 0.42% higher at 35,929.64 and 50-scrip Nifty settled at 10,791.55, up 53.95 points or 0.50%.
