The domestic stock markets opened on a green note on the first day of the week. Against its previous close of 33,349.31, the 30-share Sensex opened at 33,549.88 on Monday.
The 50-scrip Nifty opened at 10,078.10 in comparison to its last close of 10,030.
Just minutes after the opening trade, the S&P BSE Sensex traded up with 223.43 points or 0.67% at 33,572.74.
And the Nifty50 barometer of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading high at 10,067.75, with 37.75 points, or 0.38%.
Top gainers on the Nifty pack were ICICI Bank, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Axis Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance and Sun Pharma.
Globally, US’ S&P 500 on Friday closed at its lowest level since early May.
The Nasdaq recorded its biggest weekly drop since 23rd March.
Meanwhile, the equity benchmark indices ended Friday’s session on a seven-month low note.
The BSE Sensex closed lower with 340.78 points or 1.01% at 33,349.31 while the NSE Nifty50 fell to 94.40points or 0.94% to settle at 10,030.
