The domestic stock markets opened in red on Thursday’s trading session, breaking seven consecutive rows of greens.

At 9:45 am, the Sensex index of Bombay Stock Exchange traded at 36302.55, with a loss of 181.78 points or 0.50%, while the NSE Nifty50 was at 10914.15, down 53.15 points or 0.48%.

Out of 50 Nifty stocks, forty-two traded in the red.

The top five laggards on the Nifty pack were Hindalco, Infratel, GAIL, Bharti Airtel and Vedanta, losing between 1044% and 2.27%.

The top BSE Sensex losers were Adani Ports, NTPC, Vedanta, HDFC and Power Grid, trading between 0.93% and 2.25%.

In the global markets, China stocks fell and the Yuan depreciated on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the equity benchmark indexes ended the session in green on Wednesday.

The S&P BSE Sensex closed 137.25 points or 0.38 higher at 36,484.33, while the 50-scrip Nifty settled at 10,967.30, with a gain of 58.60 points or 0.54%.
