The equity benchmark indices started on a flat note on Tuesday’s session. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark index Sensex opened at 35,394.77 against its previous close of 35,354.08.
While the 50-scrip Nifty of the NSE (National Stock Exchange) started at 10,621.45 as compared to its last close of 10,628.60.
After trading for a few minutes, the 30-share Sensex traded high 44.39 points or 0.13% at 35398.47, while the broader Nifty50 was at 10633.45, up 4.85 points or 0.05%.
The top five gainers on the Nifty pack were Yes Bank, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Infosys, Sun Pharma, and Tech Mahindra.
At the forex market, the Indian rupee weakened by 15 paise to 71.02 against the American dollar on Tuesday’s early trade.
The rupee opened at 70.91 lower and further fell to 71.02 at the interbank foreign exchange market.
On Monday, the domestic currency declined by 18 paise to end at 70.87 against the greenback.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the Sensex index of BSE closed 373.06 points or 1.07 higher at 35,354.08, and the Nifty50 settled at 10,628.60, with a gain of 101.85 points or 0.97%.
