Chandigarh – In an emergency meeting of the General House of the Bar Council held today, the out-going Chairman and Vice Chairman reiterated their respective resignations.
Suvir Sidhu, the member, Punjab and Haryana Bar Council is unanimously elected as the Chairman Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana. The Council also elected Ashok Singla, Ranvir Singh Dhaka, and Surinder Dutt Sharma both as Co-Chairman.
During the proceedings, Partap Singh, Member Representative BCI, himself stood for a vote of confidence, which was unanimously supported by a majority of members, thereby reposing complete faith in his work and functioning.
Gurtej Singh Grewal had already been nominated for the post of Hony’ Secretary, the appointment which stood unanimously ratified by the General House today.
The newly elected office bearers vowed to work for the welfare of the legal fraternity, solidify Bar and Bench relationship and make earnest efforts to ensure the integrity and independence of the legal profession.
