Chandigarh – Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Puri on his recent visit to Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency in the second week of July 2022 as part of Lok Sabha Pravas Yojana had received a unanimous request from the local administration and the residents of Bathinda regarding the Barnala Bypass flyover on Bathinda-Chandigarh National Highway.
The demand was to convert the design of the proposed over bridge at Barnala Bypass from sand filled bridge to a pillared elevated bridge so that space underneath the bridge can be made available for the use of city. Under the current design, the essential services and commercial establishments gets affected and also cause an extra de-tour of 10-12 Kms for the residents affecting the normal functioning and development of the city.
Taking cognizance of the concerns of the people of Bathinda, Hardeep Puri met the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari with a request to resolve the concerns of the people. Nitin Gadkari was very receptive and concerned to the problem faced by the people of Bathinda and he assured that the needful will be done.
Manoj Kumar, Member (Projects), National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) was also present in the meeting.
