Chandigarh, June 15 : State Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed a constable Jaswant Singh posted at Police Post Civil Hospital Bathinda city red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said accused constable was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Sukhmandar Singh of village Mehta, Bathinda district. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused police official was demanding Rs 15,000 for helping in a police complaint case lodged against his relative and the deal was struck at Rs, 10,000. He informed that after a compromise in this case he had paid Rs. 5,000 to the constable as a first instalment and demanding remaining amount to furnish a copy of compromise between both the parties.
After verifying his information, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused constable was arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant as a second instalment in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under different sections of prevention of corruption act has been registered against him at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation was under progress.
