-SAYS 24 LMT WHEAT PROCURED IN STATE, EXPRESSES SATISFACTION OVER PROCUREMENT OPERATIONS

LUDHIANA/MOGA, APRIL 23: Expressing satisfaction over the ongoing wheat procurement operations and arrangements put in place to facilitate all stakeholders, the Secretary Mandi Board Ravi Bhagat said that over 24 lakh metric tonne of wheat had been procured across the state till date.

While visiting the Asia’s largest grain market Khanna & other Mandis of Ludhiana district including Doraha, Sahnewal, Mullanpur Dakha & Gill Road besides Ajitwal and Moga, Ravi Bhagat took stock of the procurement operations in there.

During his visit, Secretary also interacted with the officers/officials of Mandi Board and Market Committees besides farmers on the spot and expressed satisfaction over the ongoing seamless procurement operations amid COVID-19 restrictions. He also assured that the Government was fully committed to procure every single grain of the farmers produce in these difficult times.

Bhagat also pointed out that if any of the stakeholders was facing any hardship related to procurement operations, they could contact their respective market committees and State Control Room setup at Mandi Board Headquarters, Mohali to get their issues and complaints addressed promptly.

Divulging details about the preventive measures being taken in view of coronavirus, the Secretary said that adequate quantity of masks besides 27,000 liters of sanitisers have already been provided in all purchase centres across the state to keep the spread of corona virus under check.

Bhagat, who has been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the procurement of Ludhiana, Moga and Sangrur districts, said that high quality of wheat had arrived in all these mandis.

Secretary Mandi Board further pointed 4.5 lakh passes have been issued so far by the Mandi Board to the farmers through Arthiyas in view of the staggered movement of wheat due to COVID-19.

Emphasizing on the need to strictly adhere to the health protocol especially the social distancing, Bhagat appealed all the stakeholders to comply with these preventive measures for their health and safety.

He also reviewed the ongoing procurement with Deputy Commissioner of ludhiana Pradeep Agarwal and Moga Sandeep Hans and district Mandi officers.

DFSC Mr. Gurpreet Singh Kang, DMO Mr. Jaswinder Singh and District Manager Procurement Agencies were present.
