Chandigarh: SpiceJet has announced the launch of two new daily direct flights from Amritsar to Bangkok as well as Goa, inaugurating on November 6.

The company handed over the first ticket to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

A three-member team from SpiceJet, headed by Chief Customer Service Officer Kamal Hingorani, met Captain Amarinder at his official residence to declare the commencement of new flights from Sri Guru Ram Das International Airport.

Captain Amarinder Singh lauded the initiative and asserted that there is an enormous potential of tourism in Punjab, especially the holy city of Amritsar where a large number of devotees swarm from all around the world to offer prayers at Sri Darbar Sahib and Durgiana Mandir and pay tributes to the martyrs at Jallianwala Bagh.

The Chief Minister also urged SpiceJet authorities to initiate more flights from Amritsar to other destinations in India and abroad.

He also called attention to the need to start a direct flight from Mohali International Airport to Singapore citing the huge demand from the people in the area.

It is notable that Bangkok is the second international destination after Dubai that will be connected by SpiceJet via a direct flight from Amritsar.
